Sound, the ineffable border of liminal perception, embraces the distinction between the note, the tone, and the pitch. How, then, does one play?

Ava Grayson, curator

“Society is part of the meaninglessness of art,” says Bataille; however, according to Reicher, it is not so much society that is part of the meaninglessness of art, but rather the futility, and hence the stasis, of society.

The ArtSound Playground process-exhibition brings together many of Helsinki's brightest emerging sound artists for a two day exploration of the outer limits of sound and space.

ArtSound Playground does not wish to endorse a sympathetic 'beat' or 'pulse' but rather play by the next dance - an extravagant undoing of the most divisive rhythms and drones. We do not recommend ArtSound Playground for the faint of heart or for those under the age of 23.
